  6.                The SwiftBBS Jump Start
  7.

  9.           If you're experienced with other Bulletin board
  10.      software, you may want to "jump start" SwiftBBS to get a
  11.      quicker look at it. Below are some simple steps for such a
  12.      jump start.
  13.  
  14.           This doesn't mean SwiftBBS is properly installed. When
  15.      installing SwiftBBS for live use, be sure to read the
  16.      documentation fully and go through all the installation
  17.      screens, particularly if it'll be used for echomail.
  18.  
  19.           1) Create a separate directory for SwiftBBS and
  20.      extract all the files in the archive into this directory
  21.      and/or sub-directories.

  23.           2) Create/edit an AREAS.BBS file in the QuickBBS format
  24.      for all areas you will be using.  Do NOT run SWIFCNFG or
  25.      create a CONFIG.BBS yet.  If a CONFIG.BBS file exists, delete
  26.      or rename it.

  28.           3) Now run SWIFCNFG. If no CONFIG.BBS exists when
  29.      Swifcnfg runs, it will import the areatags for all the
  30.      areas in AREAS.BBS and use them for the Board description.
  31.      All areas will also be set to echo status.
  32.           In the appropriate sections of SwiftBBS configuration,
  33.      enter the Netmail address you will be using, and system
  34.      paths, and Save setup.  In the user editor, enter your name
  35.      and selected parameters.  Menus are not required.

  37.           4) Run SwiftBBS with the -o option for Opus menus. For
  38.      ANSI or AVATAR, you can also use the appropriate options.
